ABYC to Host 2027 Standards Week in San Antonio, Texas  

Marine industry experts will gather Jan. 10-15 to help shape the future of boating safety

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (August 19, 2026) – The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) has announced that 2027 Standards Week will take place Jan. 10-15 at the Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. Registration is now open for the week’s Project Technical Committee (PTC) meetings, annual meeting and welcome reception.

Standards Week brings together marine industry professionals who help develop and maintain ABYC’s safety standards for the design, construction, maintenance and repair of boats. Throughout the week, PTC members will review proposed changes, share technical expertise and help shape future updates to standards used across the global recreational marine industry.

More than 400 volunteers contribute to ABYC standards development throughout the year, helping ensure the standards keep pace with new technologies, evolving systems, safety research and real-world experience.

“With Supplement 66 now published, we’re looking ahead to make sure safety keeps pace with innovation,” said Brian Goodwin, ABYC vice president, standards and compliance. “2027 Standards Week will give us the opportunity to dig into areas like evolving electrical tends, e-foils, and advanced driver-assistance systems.”

PTCs scheduled to meet in San Antonio include:

  • Control Systems
  • Electrical
  • Electrical Components
  • E-Foils and Powered Surfboards
  • Fire Fighting and Detection Systems
  • Hull Performance
  • Product Interface
  • Thermal Appliance

The week will begin with a welcome reception on Jan. 10. ABYC’s annual meeting will take place the evening of Jan. 11, featuring highlights from the past year along with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and networking with fellow industry professionals.

Registration is now open, and attendees are encouraged to reserve accommodations through ABYC’s hotel room block to receive the discounted group rate. Participation in the PTC meetings is free and open to all, with both in-person and virtual options available.
