Re-Certification

As with the majority of other industries’ certifications, ABYC’s Certifications do expire after 5 years. Recertification is a simple process that re-establishes your educational standing in the industry.  Recertification exams are held entirely on-line and at a fraction of the cost of a complete certification class!

ABYC provides a 90-day grace period after your certification expires. You can still re-certify during this time—but after 90 days, you’ll no longer be eligible to re-certify and will need to retake the full course and exam to earn your certification again.

By recertifying for another 5 years, it shows that you are keeping current with the evolution of technology, industry best practices, and updated standards in the marine industry.

Steps to Recertify:

1. Make Payment for Recertification – Login to your ABYC account and purchase your recertification.

2. Complete the Online Certification Designation Application. This is required prior to taking the recertification exam to be approved for either Certified Advisor or Certified Technician. To log into your ABYC account, click here.

3. Submit ADA Accommodations Form (if applicable). We want to ensure that you have the necessary support and accommodations to succeed. If you require any accommodations under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) or any other support, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make appropriate arrangements.

4. Watch Recertification Webinar – As part of the recertification process, you’ll need to earn CEUs (Continuing Education Units). After completing the steps above, you’ll receive an email with access to the required webinars through ABYC’s Online Learning site.

5. Review the Study Guide – a copy of the study guide will be mailed to you shortly. We recommend reviewing before attempting the recertification exam.

6.Take the Online Recertification Exam – Details for the exam will be emailed with a test by deadline.

Re-Certification Pricing

The cost for re-certification is $275 for members and $595 for non-members, for a 5 year certification.

This price includes:

• A copy of the study guide
• Recertification webinar (required to complete for CEUs)
• The industry recognized NOCTI exam
• Upon passing the exam, professional certificate
• All shipping costs covered no matter where you are located

If you have multiple certifications expiring in the same 12 month period, you save money with each subsequent re-certification. Just as our full certification courses, the study guides are included with the cost of the test.
