ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Oct. 22, 2024) — The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) has opened a call for proposals for its biennial SUR/TECH conference, scheduled for Feb. 19-20, 2025. The event will be a hybrid conference, offering both in-person attendance in Annapolis, Maryland, and online participation. The focus of this year’s conference will be fire accident investigations and fire prevention.
This two-day event provides continuing education for marine surveyors, technicians, and other marine industry professionals. Attendees can choose to participate in one day based on their interests or attend both days to earn up to 10 continuing education units (CEUs).
ABYC is seeking proposals for topics and speakers in the following areas:
- Accident investigations
- Legal case studies
- Manufacturer liability
- Expert witness experiences
- Insurance panel discussion
- Fire and accident prevention
- Upgrading wiring and charging systems in older boats
- Fire extinguishing and alarm systems
- Lithium battery installation to ABYC standards
- Solar charging design and application
- Fuel system inspection and testing
