Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) don’t exactly hang from trees, but they don’t need to be hard to earn either. Not only are we working tirelessly to develop new learning materials to help you do your job better, but we are also looking for new ways that you can earn the CEUs that are required to keep your certifications active.

Online Learning

ABYC's Online Learning platform host a variety of courses; ranging from extensive multimedia demonstrations and interactive learning tools to on-demand informational webinars. Check out the new and upcoming catalog HERE to learn more.

ABYC Training Seminars

ABYC has embarked on a traveling roadshow of sorts. Each year we pick a topic and several destinations that have a great core of certified technicians. Then we come to you to get together for a little networking and some tech talks over dinner. Learn more about that HERE.

Have you earned CEUs at non-ABYC trainings or other related courses?

We've been working with other leading industry organizations to define the standard CEU that is transferable anywhere you go. That way, if you attend a few educational sessions at IBEX this year, you can apply those to your re-certification.

We've been accepting CEUs from:

  • NMEA
  • IBEX
  • Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS)
  • National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS)
  • IAMI
  • Yamaha
  • Mercury
  • more (send us a transcript and a course description)

Does your company offer in house training?

Do you provide training lunches on Fridays or tech talk Tuesdays once a month? Why not earn some CEUs for that time. You may need to tighten up a bit on what the course is and define an agenda so that you can provide an outline to us, but there's no reason that learning can't come from within your own organization.

We are always looking into new and creative ways to award CEUs for the work that we know you are doing. Have you written an article for our Reference Point periodical? Do you attend Project Technical Meeting at Standards Week?

If you have questions about our CEU process you can always reach out to us HERE.
