MikWe are pleased to announce ABYC’s Interactive Online Corrosion Certification!

The course that has historically been only offered in a 3-day in-person classroom format is available 100% online in an LIVE interactive experience!

ABYC Instructor will lead LIVE course sessions, 3 days a week for 3 weeks (each 90 minutes long).

Certification Exam Testing:

At the end of the live webinar sessions you can take the Marine Corrosion Certification exam online; you can take a proctored test one of two ways…

  1. Testing online through an online proctoring service, ProctorU (computer/laptop with a webcam is required)
  2. Testing online at your local library

Course Topics:

The Corrosion Certification class is designed and intended for those with a minimum of 3-5 years practical experience in the marine field. It is highly commended that certification candidates already have the ABYC Electrical Certification before attempting the Corrosion Certification program. It is presumed by the course content that candidates have a reasonable understanding of basic concepts, such as, electrical grounding, electrical current flow, galvanic isolation, and basic marine electrical terminology. 

The successful certification candidate should have some familiarity with ABYC standards and topics covered listed below.

    Certification Destinations:
    ABYC has created certification designation titles to better associate the type of work being done by the individual.

    Advisor Certification or Technician Certification titles will be assigned upon passing the certification exam.

    ADA Requests
    Students with ADA accommodations must inform the ABYC in writing of said needs at the time of class registration to ensure that any special accommodations can be made for exam taking. Students may use a calculator during the exam.

    Requests for cancellation and refund of a class registration must be submitted, in writing, no less than 10 days prior to the course start date. A $150 cancellation fee will apply. Refunds will not be considered for non-attendance. Cancellation requests may be emailed to Casey Bates at cbates@abycinc.org. Refunds will be issued within 30 days after the course end date.
