Join ABYC and the ABYC Foundation for the 2nd Annual Train-the-Trainer event at our headquarters in Annapolis, MD.

The 3-day Educator Training Conference will feature specific topics to enhance the knowledge, delivery, and support of marine instructors. Whether your school has a successful program, just got on board with the ABYC program, or are looking into ways to develop a program to service your local community, this event is for you!

Build a sense of community among marine technology instructors and join your colleagues in an unprecedented atmosphere of learning, idea exchange, and resource sharing.


Who Should Attend

Educators, instructors,  school administrators who are teaching or interested in teaching a marine technology course, and institutions considering a marine program.



Early Bird Registration until March 31, 2020:

ABYC Members: $549

Non-members: $649

Regular Registration April 1 - July 21, 2020:

ABYC Members: $649

Non-members: $749

Monday's Boatyard Tour is an additional fee:

ABYC Members: $99

Non-members: $129

Price includes: coffee with breakfast and lunch, and networking events!

(100% refundable until July 1 due to current travel concerns)

Professional Development Day

8:00am - 5:00pm

Topics include:

  • Tapping funds for your classroom
  • Shop setup guide (layout, tools, cost)
  • Useful software for today's students
  • Tips and tricks for teaching technical topics
  • How to engage local industry
  • Managing time and students

Wednesday, July 22, 2020:

Hands-On Learning Day

8:00am - 5:00pm

Topics include:

  • Fiberglass 101
  • I have an engine in my classroom, now what?
  • Boat trailers and lights (that work)
  • Product demonstrations/troubleshooting
  • How to use and teach a multi-meter (and other tools)

Thursday, July 23, 2020:

Industry Day (1/2 day)

8:00am - 12:00pm

Topics include:

  • Perspectives from young marine professionals
  • Specific classroom resources to teach marine service tech
  • Industry opportunities and needs panel

ADA Requests
Attendees with ADA accommodations must inform the ABYC in writing of said needs at the time of registration to ensure that any special accommodations can be made.

Refunds will not be considered for non-attendance or for requests received less than 10 days prior to the start date. Cancellation requests may be emailed to Casey Bates at cbates@abycinc.org.

ABYC reserves the right to cancel the conference, no later than two weeks prior to the start date. Please take this into consideration when making any travel or accommodation arrangements. ABYC will not provide any reimbursements for travel expenses.
