This ABYC Standards Certification at Standards Week is a fast-paced, one-day course, consisting of a self-study (e-learning component provided in advance), classroom review, and then exam. It is a great training opportunity – earn ABYC Standards Certification while saving time and money!

The Standards Certification course discusses specific compliance issues relevant to engineers, installers, compliance inspectors, and marine surveyors. Common non-compliance areas will be discussed and how to address these issues in both the factory and field environments. Additionally, where the US code of Federal Regulations (CFR) are relevant, we’ll review how they relate to the boating industry and ABYC standards. This course consists of three elements:

1) Online Leaning – Cover every inch of the study guide in detail at your own pace up until the day of the class. You will receive the online learning access prior to attending. It consists of six chapters that follow the included study guide and discussion of the most common ABYC standards as well as relevant CFR regulations.

2) Review – The session will start with a four-hour review of the materials you learned in the online learning portion with one of ABYC’s instructors. He will answer questions you may have and give you the final boost of confidence to conquer the exam.

3) Exam – The Standards Certification exam is a three-hour timed exam that consists of 132 multiple choice questions and challenges your knowledge of the standards ABYC maintains. The exam is open book so bring all study materials; there will not be extra materials on site for you to borrow. Passing the exam is a milestone achievement and aligns you with the ranks of certified technicians and advisors across the country who build, maintain, and support our boating industry to the highest quality levels possible.
