|LMS Hosting Program|
The American Boat and Yacht Council strives to provide the boating industry with the best educational opportunities supported by extensive standards and our 3rd party certified curriculum. The next progression of that education is to deliver it online to expand the flexibility and cost savings to learners. Part of that advancement is bringing the highest value of education to our members and value comes from content.
In addition to developing our own standards based content, ABYC is requesting the use of your online learning content, hosted on our platform, for use by our members. The learning platform is capable of handling virtually all course types and media and is intended to be geared towards technicians and designers implementing or servicing your products. Our platform will host your learning content in a brand neutral environment and will serve as an extensive resource for our members and your customers.
ABYC is aiming to be the single resource for online education in our industry with a variety of online learning content searchable by topic, category and product type. This strengthens the benefits we offer our members and affords them the opportunity to access information that may have only been available through dealer networks.
Providing the use of your learning content expands your learner audience to more than 3,000 members globally plus an ever expanding pool of Certified Technicians. Better access to training materials leads to improved installations, increased reliability and lower warranty expenses. This is an excellent opportunity to train independent technicians that may not otherwise have access to manufacturer specific training materials.
ABYC uses a third party Learning Management System (LMS) developer which dovetails into our membership database for management of member/user records. There is a significant cost to maintain this software which increases as more users access the information. We are starting this program as a pilot and at this stage we can only speculate the amount of users on an annual basis. So because of this, we are offering a no cost trial period to determine pricing. Our goal is to include this hosting service as a member benefit at a certain membership level. If you are already at that level, there will be no additional costs. If you are below that membership level, you will need to upgrade to maintain this benefit.
