All good things must come to an end and this is no different for ABYC Certifications. In order to keep up with the evolution of technology, industry best practices and updated standards, certifications expire after five years. You don't need to start from square one to keep active however. A re-certification shows that you have kept up with the changes in the marine industry by reinstating your certification for another five years.
A re-certification exam is a shorter version of the full exam you passed the first time around and the exam itself can be taken online. The basic cost of a re-certification is just $249 and if you have multiple certifications expiring in the same 12 month period, you save money with each subsequent re-certification. Just as our full certification courses, the study guides are included with the cost of the test.
