WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to fund the vital work we do everyday for the boating industry. Relying on inconsistent grant funding and a portion of membership dues from ABYC is only a part of the financial equation, your donation fills a critical need and helps make boating safer.
Your donations will make an IMMEDIATE impact on these projects below:
Outboard Donation Program:
YOUR DONATION WILL help fund an outboard for a nonprofit in need.
The ABYC Foundation is once again partnering with BRP Evinrude to give outboard engines to organizations in need. Upon necessary financial support, the nonprofit organization West & Rhode Riverkeeper, Inc. will receive the outboard for their official patrol boat. The sole purpose of the Maryland-based nonprofit is to protect the rivers and keep them enjoyable for fishing, swimming and boating.
The boat was used by a corps of citizen-scientist volunteers who use that boat to monitor water quality at 28 sites around the West and Rhode Rivers every week.
“A new engine will make all the difference for our small organization to get us back out on the water in the spring and for many seasons to come and keep our momentum going in our efforts to make the rivers safe for fishing, boating, and swimming,” said Holland. “The data gathered out on the boat helps to identify problems like stormwater runoff pollution or bacterial outbreaks that can harm children and dogs swimming in the creeks.”
Workforce Development Support:YOUR DONATION WILL create Spanish translated study guides to help with workforce development opportunities.
The Marine Industry is facing a shortage of skilled labor in the marine trades that will have a domino effect for years to come. More and more our industry partners are asking where they can find qualified personnel.
After looking at the bigger picture and the issues facing the marine industry workforce, ABYC Foundation has developed a plan to create the Spanish translation of the ABYC Electrical Study Guide and Certification. This gives the industry a chance to capture the talent of multicultural employees to help provide the skills needed to sustain both the technical service and manufacturing components of the industry.
ABYC Foundation - General Fund:
YOUR DONATION WILL fund the research, development and technical standards work that will ensure a safe, reliable and enjoyable boating experience well into the future. Developing relevant up to date and insightful standards are key to quality product.
