Challenge Testing

Have you taken an industry sabbatical and let your certification expire?  There are several reasons why you might decide to challenge an ABYC Certification exam. You'll be taking the same exam as the students who are in the full length class and will need to do so in a proctored environment. We can help you each step of the way.

Just because you aren't sitting in class leading up to a certification exam, doesn't mean you are off the hook in terms of preparation. The certification exams are 150 questions or more and consume up to 3 hours depending on which exam you are taking. It is no small feat to take ad pass an exam without devoting a significant amount of time beforehand.

The study guides are not included with the challenge testing so they will have to be purchased separately. Additionally, the exams need to be taken in a proctored environment such as:

  • Libraries
  • Schools/Colleges
  • At the ABYC Office or at another Certification Class

Price:

$279.00 ABYC Member

$350.00 nonmember

What to Do:

Step 1: Purchase the study guide and do a self-study

Step 2: Purchase the exam by contacting Casey Bates at 410-990-4460x100

Step 3: Find a proctor (complete the form & return) and schedule the testing date. It is up to the participant to schedule the date

Step 4: Select between the written/scanTron sheet version or online version of exam

The exams can be taken online or paper/pencil version. Online does have the advantage that it will display the score upon completion

If participant chooses to take the paper/pencil version, ABYC will need at least one weeks notice to prepare and have the exam mailed to the proctor

Click here to download the proctor form. Upon receiving the completed proctor form, exam payment, version of the exam, and a scheduled test date the exam info will be sent to the proctor
