ABYC Corrosion Certification

Our four day Corrosion Certification course covers all aspects of marine corrosion. The course starts off with general corrosion theory and goes on to include; identifying types of corrosion, properties of marine building materials, corrosion control methods & applications, sacrificial cathode protection systems and impressed current systems, protective coatings and methodology and performing a corrosion survey. The price of the course includes the Marine Corrosion Study Guide and that will be shipped to you when you register. The price of the class also includes "The Boatowner’s Guide to Corrosion" by Everett Collier. The course concludes with a 200 question certification exam.

You will need to bring your Study Guide, the text and your copy of the ABYC Standards Manual to the course. If you do not have access to an ABYC Standards manual, please contact the Education Department to purchase this textbook.

Note: It is strongly recommended that candidates for the Corrosion Certification attend one or more of the ABYC's electrical courses prior to attending this course.

Recommended Westlawn Course: Westlawn's TT500, Metal Corrosion in Boats, is a good prerequisite course for the ABYC Marine Corrosion Certification. Click here for detailed information on Metal Corrosion in Boats.
